EA Sports FC 27 is official — and it's coming sooner than you might think

Electronic Arts officially announced EA Sports FC 27 on 23 July 2026, confirming a worldwide release date of 25 September 2026 — the final Friday of September, continuing a tradition EA has maintained for years. Along with the announcement came the first gameplay trailer and the reveal of the Ultimate Plus Edition cover, which features Real Madrid teammates Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham together for the first time.

Mbappé had already been confirmed as the face of the Standard and Ultimate Editions earlier that week. The France forward, who won the Golden Boot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becomes the headline name for FC 27 across all three editions. Bellingham, meanwhile, makes his third appearance on the cover of an EA Sports FC title — a distinction matched by very few players in the series' history.

"I'm very proud to be featured across three editions of EA SPORTS FC 27, and to share the Ultimate Plus Edition cover alongside my Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham," Mbappé said in EA's official press release.

Bellingham added: "Every time I've had the chance to be part of EA SPORTS FC, it's been a special moment, and coming back for a third cover alongside Kylian is no different."

Which platforms are supported?

EA Sports FC 27 will launch on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Amazon Luna. Physical disc versions will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One. The platform lineup is identical to EA Sports FC 26, which launched in September 2025.

The decision to continue supporting PS4, Xbox One, and the original Nintendo Switch will surprise many observers. Both Madden NFL 27 and EA Sports UFC 6 had already moved exclusively to current-generation hardware, and the expectation was that FC 27 would follow suit. It hasn't — but there is a significant caveat.

The Grounds, the most prominent new mode in FC 27, is only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Buyers on PS4, Xbox One, or original Switch will not have access to it. EA describes The Grounds as a social football playground that extends the Clubs experience across three districts, blending casual matches with higher-level competition. Players can develop and customise a footballer with mentors including Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, Paulo Dybala, and one notable returning face: Alex Hunter, the protagonist of The Journey story mode, making his first appearance in any EA football title since FIFA 20.

In short: last-gen buyers can still play FC 27, but those on older hardware should expect a Legacy-style experience focused primarily on kit and roster updates rather than new gameplay modes.

Editions, early access and that hard pre-order deadline

EA Sports FC 27 is available in three editions: the Standard Edition, the Ultimate Edition, and the Ultimate Plus Edition.

• Standard Edition: Full game, launches 25 September 2026.
• Ultimate Edition: Full game, plus up to seven days of early access from 18 September 2026 and additional in-game content.
• Ultimate Plus Edition: Everything in the Ultimate Edition, plus up to 10,000 FC Points and Premium Passes for Seasons 1–5. Crucially, this edition is only available to pre-order between 23 July and 31 August 2026. After that date, it will no longer be on sale.

Early access officially begins on Friday, 18 September 2026 — a full week before the global launch date — for anyone who purchases the Ultimate or Ultimate Plus Edition.

For those who want to try before they buy, EA has confirmed a free-to-download limited preview called EA Sports FC 27 Lite, available on launch day.

What will it cost in the UK?

EA has not officially confirmed UK prices in pounds sterling at the time of writing. Based on precedent from FC 26 and figures reported by Joe.co.uk, the Standard Edition is expected to cost around £69.99 on console and £59.99 on PC, with the Ultimate Edition likely sitting at £99.99 on console and £89.99 on PC. These figures should be treated as informed estimates rather than confirmed prices until EA makes an official announcement.

In Europe, EA is expected to price the PC and Nintendo Switch 2 versions at €69.99, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions at €79.99. In the United States, all platforms are reportedly set at $69.99.

What's new on the pitch?

EA has confirmed a range of gameplay changes for FC 27, including more fluid player movement, dynamic corner kicks, improved attacking awareness, and player-focused defending designed with competitive play in mind. The Career Mode Transfer Market has been rebuilt in partnership with TransferRoom, promising more realistic player valuations and transfer activity.

Pre-orders are open now and run until 31 August 2026 — though anyone interested in the Ultimate Plus Edition should note that deadline applies to their chosen edition too.
