LEGO reveals Ministry of Magic Collectors' Edition to mark 25 years of Harry Potter

LEGO has unveiled its biggest Harry Potter set of 2026: The Ministry of Magic Collectors' Edition, set number 76476, priced at £389.99 in the UK. The announcement came from Billund, Denmark, on 5 August 2026, timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone arriving in cinemas.

The 18+ set contains 3,491 pieces and stands 51cm tall, 35cm wide and 15cm deep. It is described in official press materials as "a 3,491-piece cross-section of magical London" offering "an immersive building experience." General sale begins on 1 September 2026 — Back to Hogwarts Day — exclusively through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores. No third-party retailers such as Amazon, Smyths or Argos are included at launch.

What's in the box

The model is built across three distinct layers. At street level, builders construct a London scene complete with a London Underground station entrance and the iconic red telephone box through which wizards access the Ministry below. The middle section recreates the Ministry's recognisable green building, while the lowest level houses the Hall of Prophecies in the Department of Mysteries.

A golden wizard statue is also included as part of the build. Interactive features include the ability to flush a minifigure from a toilet cubicle down into the Ministry, and to topple shelves in the Hall of Prophecy during Death Eater battle scenes — both nods to memorable moments from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The set comes with 14 minifigures:

• Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger
• Albus Dumbledore, Sirius Black, Nymphadora Tonks
• Arthur Weasley, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody
• Arabella Figg, Dolores Umbridge, Lucius Malfoy
• Antonin Dolohov, Voldemort

Two of those characters — Arabella Figg and Antonin Dolohov — are entirely new to the LEGO Harry Potter range. Kingsley Shacklebolt comes with an exclusive Lynx Patronus, reflecting his use of that Patronus in the films to pass secret messages out of the Ministry. Fresh takes on Mad-Eye Moody, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Lucius Malfoy are also included, even if the characters themselves have appeared in brick form before.

Dates and deals UK buyers need to know

LEGO Insiders members get early access from 29 August 2026. Those who purchase set 76476 between 29 August and 6 September will receive the LEGO Harry Potter Ministry of Magic Phone Booth as a gift with purchase, while stocks last. The general release follows on 1 September.

To mark the launch, two of the set's designers are due to appear at the LEGO Store on Leicester Square on 29 August from 9am to 11am. Model designer Atticus Tsai-McCarthy and graphic designer Signe Aaby Neustrup will sign early copies of the set, available for LEGO Insiders to purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of two sets per person applies and there is no sign-up list, so anyone hoping to attend will need to turn up and queue.

How it compares to previous sets

This is only the second time the Ministry of Magic has been recreated in LEGO form. The previous effort, set 76403, launched in 2022 with just 990 pieces and nine minifigures — a much more stripped-down version with basic interior rooms across a modular format. The new set brings nearly 3.5 times the piece count and five additional minifigures.

Compared to the previous flagship in the Collectors' Edition line — the Gringotts Wizarding Bank (76417), which launched in September 2023 at £369.99 with 4,803 pieces and 13 minifigures — the Ministry of Magic is £20 more expensive but arrives with significantly fewer pieces. Gringotts also towers over it physically, standing 79cm tall against the Ministry's 51cm. At 3,491 pieces, set 76476 sits fifth in the all-time size rankings for Wizarding World sets, behind Gringotts, the Hogwarts Express Collectors' Edition, Diagon Alley and Hogwarts Castle.

Community reaction has been mixed on price. At least one reviewer noted that "the price does seem a little over the top," and some UK fans on Brickset have been more pointed, with comments suggesting LEGO has become "just ridiculously expensive to the point where it's not fun anymore." The absence of characters such as Luna Lovegood from the minifigure lineup has also drawn attention.

Part of a wider anniversary push

The Ministry of Magic set is the centrepiece of a broader anniversary range marking 25 years of Harry Potter in the LEGO portfolio. Other sets in the wave include 76462 Hogwarts House Crest, 76469 Dobby the Free Elf, and 76471 Knockturn Alley: Wizarding Shops. Cinema screenings of the Harry Potter films are also planned around the world to mark the milestone, with the 1 September LEGO release date timed to align with that anniversary weekend.
