LEGO City Great Vehicle Monster Truck Race 60397

Building Sets & Construction Toys

Our Take

A mid-sized LEGO City building set centred on a monster truck racing scene, aimed at children aged 6 and up. It includes a chunky monster truck, a smaller stunt car, and a ramp setup, making it a solid action-themed entry point into the City range without being overly complex or expensive.

Key Features

Includes a buildable monster truck with oversized chunky tyres designed for crash and stunt play

A second smaller rival car is included, giving immediate two-vehicle racing play straight from the box

Ramp and obstacle elements allow children to set up race and jump scenarios

Three minifigures included (drivers and a race official)

Piece count sits in the low-to-mid hundreds, appropriate for the 6+ age recommendation

Compatible with all standard LEGO City sets and minifigures

Our Verdict

A good pick for LEGO City fans aged 6–9 who are into racing and vehicle play rather than elaborate construction. The two-vehicle setup adds immediate fun. Those after a more complex build or greater scenery detail should consider stepping up to a larger City set.

What We Like

Two vehicles included provides genuine play value without needing additional purchases
Monster truck design is robust and handles rough play reasonably well once built
Accessible build complexity means children can complete it largely independently

Things to Consider

The ramp and scenery elements feel sparse compared to the vehicle builds
Monster truck, once built, isn't easily reconfigured, limiting long-term building interest
At full RRP it can feel slightly dear for the piece count versus rival construction brands
Sticker application required for some detailing, which younger children may find fiddly
