Our Take
An officially licensed LEGO Technic replica of the McLaren Formula E Gen3 racing car, aimed at older children and teens from around age 9 upwards. At 422 pieces it sits in the mid-range of the Technic line — more involved than entry-level sets but less complex than flagship models — making it a solid introduction to motorsport-themed building This set is no retired. As of October 26 there is limited stock availability, one for the collectors.
Key Features
422 pieces, officially recommended for ages 9 and above
Replicates the McLaren Formula E Gen3 single-seater with distinctive livery detailing via printed/stickered elements
Technic-style construction with studless beams, pins, and connectors rather than traditional LEGO brick stacking
Working steering mechanism operable from the cockpit area
Suspended front and rear axles providing basic functional suspension movement
Includes a McLaren driver minifigure-compatible seat area (driver figure not included as a traditional minifigure — cockpit is display-oriented)
Our Verdict
A well-priced, licenced Technic set that suits McLaren enthusiasts, younger teens getting into Technic building, or anyone wanting a tidy motorsport display model. Seasoned Technic collectors seeking complexity or power functions should look at larger sets in the range instead.
