Our Take
An open-world action RPG set in the 1800s Wizarding World, letting players attend Hogwarts, explore the surrounding region, and master spells, potions, and magical beasts. It's aimed at Harry Potter fans aged 12 and up who own a Switch and missed the earlier PlayStation and Xbox releases, sitting at the premium end of Switch software pricing.
Key Features
Set in the late 1800s, predating the main Harry Potter storyline, giving narrative freedom
Open-world map covers Hogwarts castle, Hogsmeade village, and a large surrounding countryside
Combat system built around learning and chaining spells such as Accio, Expelliarmus, and Avada Kedavra
Character creation includes house sorting (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin)
Side quests involve rescuing and breeding magical creatures at a customisable beast sanctuary
Noticeably reduced visual fidelity compared to PS5 and Xbox Series X versions
Our Verdict
Harry Potter fans who own only a Switch will find it a worthwhile purchase despite the technical compromises — the scale and charm of the game survive the port reasonably well. Those with access to a PS5, Xbox Series X, or capable PC should buy it on those platforms instead for a substantially better experience.
