LEGO's largest annual product launch has arrived, with approximately 95 new sets going on sale across 22 themes during August 2026 — a wave that spans a first-ever X-Files collaboration, a fresh batch of Pokémon builds, a new Architecture take on Tower Bridge, and a five-set collection honouring pop star Olivia Rodrigo. Most sets went live on LEGO.com on the night of 31 July, with select lines available from 1 August and the headline X-Files set opening to all buyers on 4 August.

LEGO Ideas X-Files set showing Mulder's office diorama and forest UFO scene
The X-Files set (21369) went on general sale on 4 August 2026, priced at £179.99 — the first LEGO Ideas minifigure-scale diorama of its kind outside the Tintin Moon Rocket.

The X-Files lands in brick form for the first time

The standout release of the wave is LEGO Ideas The X-Files (21369), a 1,478-piece set priced at £179.99 that recreates Fox Mulder's cluttered office, a forest clearing scene, and a hovering UFO. It includes eight minifigures: Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, The Flukeman, and a grey alien.

The set originated as a fan submission by Australian designer Brent Waller, who won LEGO Ideas' "Build Your Nostalgia – 90s Throwback!" contest. Waller said:

"I was obsessed with The X-Files from the moment I first saw it in the '90s. I originally built Mulder's office back in 2014 while rewatching the series, and it grew from there as a personal project. I wanted to combine nostalgia, detail and storytelling to capture the atmosphere of the show – from Mulder's office to the forest and UFO encounter. I'm thrilled to see it become an official LEGO set."

The set was unveiled on 21 July 2026 in Billund, Denmark, in collaboration with Disney Entertainment. To mark the launch, Emmy Award-winning actor Gillian Anderson starred in a cinematic mini-film in which she is drawn into an investigation that gradually leads her to uncover the set itself. LEGO Insiders members had early access from 1 August; general sale began 4 August.

Buyers who purchased the set between 1 and 10 August were eligible to receive the Gift with Purchase set The X-Files: Scully's Lab (40896) while stocks lasted — that window has now closed. Design-wise, the set is also notable as the first LEGO Ideas minifigure-scale diorama outside the 21067 Tintin Moon Rocket, making it a genuine milestone for the Ideas line.

Three LEGO Ideas sets launch simultaneously — a genuine rarity

Alongside the X-Files set, the August wave also brings LEGO Ideas E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (21370) and LEGO Ideas La Catrina (21372), both priced at $139.99 in the US. UK pricing for both sets has not been confirmed in available sources. Three new LEGO Ideas sets arriving in the same wave is described as a genuine rarity for the programme.

Pokémon: big display builds and 12 SMART Play sets

The Pokémon line is particularly substantial this August. The headline collector build is Rayquaza (72168), a 1,083-piece, 18+ rated set priced at £119.99 that recreates the iconic Sky Pillar scene from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, including an exclusive minifigure of Lorekeeper Zinnia. It went on sale 1 August.

Also in the wave are Arcanine (72160), a fully posable 1,190-piece display build, and Munchlax (72150) at 1,083 pieces, complete with tree stump and apple cores. UK prices for both are unconfirmed at time of writing. This wave also introduces the first-ever Trainer and Pokémon minifigures to the LEGO Pokémon line.

Twelve new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets also launched on 1 August, covering characters including Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Gengar, Eevee, and Mew. The LEGO SMART Brick — which enables builds to respond to play through light, sound, motion, and sensing without a screen — is included as standard in the Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle and Training House with Pikachu sets only. The remaining eleven sets are SMART Play compatible but do not include the brick as standard, which has drawn criticism from fans.

A free Gift with Purchase — LEGO Pokémon SMART Play set 40887 Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night — was available between 1 and 10 August when spending over £115 on LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets; that offer has now passed.

Tower Bridge returns to Architecture, and Olivia Rodrigo makes history

LEGO Architecture's new Tower Bridge (21067) is the most significant UK-focused set in the wave: 3,745 pieces, priced at £269.99, and the biggest LEGO take on the London landmark since the 4,287-piece Creator Expert version (10214) that sold between 2010 and 2018. The new model measures 89cm long, is slightly more compact than its predecessor, features raising central bascules, microscale vehicles including a double-decker bus, and incorporates the River Thames as part of its base. It is available at general retail — not a LEGO Store exclusive.

Finally, pop star Olivia Rodrigo has become the first musician to receive multiple dedicated LEGO sets with a five-piece Editions collection. The range includes the 1,228-piece Dual Guitar (43031) at £109.99 with two minifigures, and the 400-piece Flower Bouquet (11507) at £39.99 — the first LEGO Botanicals set created in partnership with an artist, featuring purple guitars as flowers. According to LEGO, Rodrigo was directly involved in developing the collection.

The full wave is available at LEGO.com and wider retailers including Amazon. The exact total number of sets varies slightly across sources — LEGO has not issued an official confirmed count, but approximately 95 is the most widely cited figure.

Why it matters

For UK buyers, this wave is unusually broad — there are genuinely compelling options whether you are a nostalgic adult collector, a Pokémon fan, or shopping for a child. The X-Files set in particular represents a milestone for the LEGO Ideas programme: it is the first proper minifigure-scale diorama Ideas set outside the Tintin Moon Rocket, and at £179.99 it sits in premium but not outrageous territory for a 1,478-piece adult display model. The Pokémon SMART Brick sets deserve scrutiny, however — only two of the twelve new sets include the SMART Brick as standard, meaning parents should check carefully before assuming their child's chosen set is fully functional out of the box.
