Mattel has launched its biggest-ever Masters of the Universe product offensive, rolling out a cross-category range of toys, collectibles, games and apparel tied to the live-action film that arrived in US cinemas on 5 June 2026. UK buyers have been able to order from the range since 25 April 2026, and new waves are continuing to land on shelves as the year progresses.
What Mattel announced — and when
The full product line was revealed on 24 March 2026, with Mattel confirming a collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios spanning well over 70 licensing partners worldwide. The launch spans multiple categories — action figures, playsets, building sets, apparel, card games and premium prop replicas — making it a considerably broader push than any previous Masters of the Universe toy wave.
Nick Karamanos, Senior Vice President of Action Figures, Preschool and In-Licensing at Mattel, said:
"'Masters of the Universe' is poised to become a global phenomenon and we are excited to unveil toys and collectibles to fans around the world. In collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, we've built a cross-category line of exciting products that honors the legacy of the brand while introducing it to a new generation through innovative toys, games and premium fan experiences."
The Chronicles collector line: what's in it
The headline product tier for serious collectors is Masters of the Universe: Chronicles. These figures stand 6.5 inches tall — a deliberate move away from the previous Masterverse line's 7-inch scale — and feature 30 points of articulation, upgraded engineering, and sculpts based on the actors and costumes from the film. The US MSRP sits at $24.99–$29.99 per figure; a confirmed UK sterling price has not been published at the time of writing, so buyers should check directly with Smyths Toys or Amazon UK.
Early releases focus on the film's core cast of characters. The Chronicles He-Man figure is based on actor Nicholas Galitzine's likeness and comes with his iconic sword and an extra pair of hands. The Chronicles Ram Man figure carries the likeness of actor John Xue Zhang, includes a signature battle axe, and comes with a weapons-ready set of hands. All figures ship in deluxe window box packaging with movie-inspired graphics, designed to be displayed in or out of the box.
Other confirmed Chronicles figures include Skeletor, Tri-Klops, Man-At-Arms, and a Battle Cat figure featuring glass eyes, an articulated jaw, saddle, and armour. An Amazon-exclusive Ram Man and Fisto 2-pack has also been confirmed.
The wider range: something for every age group
Alongside Chronicles, Mattel is running the MOTU Origins line at 5.5-inch scale, covering characters from the 1980s and 2000s animated series through to the 2026 film, with a Kids Core line aimed squarely at younger buyers. Further products across the range include:
- A He-Man Sword of Power Limited Edition Prop Replica and foam stunt prop replicas
- Brick Shop Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain building sets
- A Masters of the Universe-themed UNO card game featuring Eternia artwork and a special "Sword of Power" rule
- A Barbie x Masters of the Universe collaboration featuring Teela and He-Man in fashion armour inspired by the film
- A new publishing programme led by Mattel Press, including a young adult novel on Teela, a junior retelling, a graphic novel set in the film universe, and an art book
SDCC 2026: the 2027 roadmap takes shape
San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026 brought a raft of additional reveals. Mattel used the event to lay out its full 2027 roadmap, framing next year around the franchise's 45th anniversary. Upcoming Chronicles additions include a Bart Sears-inspired Man-At-Arms and Buzz-Off, Panthor, a Sorceress with Zoar, and a Celebration Four-Pack.
One of the most discussed SDCC reveals was the Chronicles "Gym Bro Skeletor" — a gym-inspired take on the villain with a bold workout-themed design and highly articulated posing options — priced at $50 (US). A brand-new Snake Mountain playset was also revealed, incorporating a long-requested lava waterfall accessory.
Licensee Mondo announced a 1/12-scale figure of Keldor — Skeletor's original persona — and a 1/6-scale figure of Panthor. Mattel's Senior Director of Action Figure Design Damon Nee confirmed at SDCC that neither the Masterverse nor Origins: Cartoon Collection lines have been discontinued; Chronicles is simply the company's primary modern collector line going forward.
Where UK buyers can find it
UK shoppers have been able to order Chronicles and core movie figures since 25 April 2026 from Smyths Toys UK, In Demand Toys and The Whole Shebang, as well as major online retailers. The Chronicles He-Man is also listed on Mattel Creations UK. With the 70-plus global licensing partners still delivering new drops, and 2027 shaping up as a landmark year for the franchise, the range available to UK buyers will continue to grow well beyond what is currently on shelves.
Why it matters
For UK collectors and parents alike, this is the most ambitious Masters of the Universe toy push in the franchise's 44-year history — backed by Amazon MGM's marketing muscle and distributed through mainstream high-street retailers. The shift from Masterverse's 7-inch scale to a standardised 6.5-inch format makes Chronicles figures more compatible with other collector lines on the shelf, while confirmed availability at Smyths means this isn't a US-first, UK-later situation. With drops continuing through 2027 and the franchise's 45th anniversary being treated as a landmark year, buyers who start collecting now are getting in at the ground floor of what looks set to be a multi-year programme.
